In 2008 Mykulynetske Brewery became the first company in Ukraine to produce single malt whiskey using their own malt.After double distillation, the middle fraction is poured into oak wine barrels for maturing, which gives the drink a delicate, unique flavor.
This year, the company is bottling whiskey that’s been aged for 10 years, and such a noble drink simply required special design. The company tasked us with developing a visual representation for two types of whiskey, differing in strength and depth of flavor. Matured Ukrainian whiskey is a new product on the market, so the label and packaging had to reflect the origin of this craft drink, its authenticity, as well as evoke a sense of trust.
We started by analyzing label and packaging designs of well-known whiskey producers and found some similarities - certain design techniques and patterns that have over time formed a certain ‘classic look’ in the minds of consumers. Therefore, in order to win the trust of said consumers, we decided on a traditional design that would give the product a look of belonging, standing next to world-famous whiskey brands. We chose a unified color scheme for both types of whiskey, and thanks to using a different balance of colors, we were able to differentiate between the two.
